The Hopkins Family

The Hopkins Family

(Left to right): Emily, Nathan, Diane, Rick, Louisa, Mark, Ammon, Daniel, Rebekah, Melissa, Julianna

Our family business is really a mission — a mission to help families to come home and build a strong Christ-centered haven of love and learning. We began our business a few years after we began 16 years ago. We struggled to find the best resources, and once we did find them, wanted to share them with others. We wanted to sell things at discount, to make it easier for families. Quickly, this effort grew into Latter-day Family Resources.

Here's who we are:

Dad

Creates the catalog, helps Diane get new products ordered, reviewed and into our system, and ultimately manages the whole affair with the help of our manager, Brother Justin Dinehart.

Mom

I love being a fulltime homemaker, homeschool teacher, wife and mother! My part in this business is to keep my eyes open for new "stuff" and try it all out on my willing children. We decide what really works and is worth the money, and then share our opinions with you via the catalog.

Daniel

Returned missionary, served in the Missouri, St. Louis mission. He and his wife Melissa (who served a mission in Fukuoka, Japan) have two little girls: Rebekah, who is 2 years old and Abigail, who was born in June 2005. He works for the family business as the systems administrator.

Nathan

Returned missionary who served in the California, Sacramento mission. Nathan is kind and gentle! He is a scientist/inventor—a mechanical engineering major at BYU (like his dad was). Besides speaking Spanish, Nathan juggles for fun, and loves to play classical music on the piano. He loves his remote controlled helicopter, but finds the demands of school and dating leave little time for this fun hobby.

Mark

Mark returned from his mission in the Guatemala, Guatemala City South mission in 2002. Mark plans to graduate from BYU in the Spring of 2005 in Political Science with emphasis in political philosophy. He is an expert pianist, having once been determined to become a concert pianist. He is very funny and has nice curly hair.

Julianna

Our sweet twenty year old, Julianna is pretty, sweet, polite, good, wholesome, (don't mothers view people objectively?). She recently moved to apartments next to BYU where she is majoring in Family Studies. She loves to cook, sew, recite poetry, make jewelry, read classic literature, climb mountains, hold babies and study history. She runs the Homeschooling at BYU activities at BYU and UVSC.

Emily

Emily is 15 years old and helpful in every way. She cooks, keeps the little ones happy, and loves her friends in our LDS Co-op school (we are having 20 families, over 100 children!) Emily is super capable and my right hand assistant! She is now the oldest child at home. There is never a dull moment with Emily!

Ammon

Ammon is smart, interested in life and learning, and a very eager star scout. He loves homeschool and does great in math. He keeps a fish aquarium, loves to jump on our trampoline, likes to swim and is an avid gardener. He is currently digging a 5-foot deep koi fish pond in the chicken coop area!

Louisa

The baby. I know, she doesn't look like a baby, she is already 8 years old! She is an excellent reader and is our in-house expert on Microsoft Word. Louisa keeps us laughing with her unique perspective on life and the funny things she says. She delights in playing with the big boys when they get home in the evenings. She takes her in cooking dinner every Wednesday night.

That's us!
