Level 2 Developmental Math Parent's Guide (grade 1)
This highly praised program is proving to be a favorite with homeschoolers because children can progress quickly on their own. Decades of research and testing in Europe, the Middle East and the United States has created this workbook series which progresses level by level, through the basic elements of arithmetic into the beginnings of algebra (covers grades K-8). Move right into Saxon Algebra 1/2 at the completion of the last workbook even if your student is only 10 years old! In each lesson, the student is taken from the lowest level of knowledge to the highest level of mastery for that concept. Ideal for self-paced learning, both accelerated and remedial. Each 80 page Student Book contains a diagnostic test (removable), a review test and record keeping chart. The Teacher Book (for levels 10 -16) is a copy of the Student Book with the answers written in color. Parent's Guide describes the philosophy behind each level, provides ideas for teaching the material and provides answers for most of the problems (available for levels 1-9). Your child should be able to progress through 2-3 levels per year, thereby being far ahead of his grade when he is finished. Because this program builds on itself, it is important to start your child at the proper level to build a strong foundation. This is strictly arithmetic, so you will want to supplement at some point with teaching how to tell time and measurement, which is not true arithmetic but is usually thrown into most math programs for good measure. Placement help is available in the free information packet. Paperback, 8 1/2 x 11" format. |
