view | Explode the Code Book 3 Here is my favorite resource for teaching your young child the sounds the letters make, and how to write them! Book 3 teaches the phonic units sh, th, wh, ch, ng, ck, tch, ee, ea, ai, ay, oa, and ow.I would recommend moving forward just as quickly as your child can handle it. (It never hurts to tape a dollar bill inside the cover as a motivation!) Paperback, 78 pages per book. You'll love these! . . . more. |
view | Now I'm Reading! Phonics Readers I've been researching all the phonics readers on the market, and I gladly recommend this series to you as being the best, the brightest, and the most interesting to kids! Each volume contains 10 little books, each neatly arranged in a slip-in plastic sleeve. Building gradually book-by-book, basic phonics sounds are covered and practiced via a fun-filled silly story. . . . more. |
view | Beginning Steps to Reading This is my favorite beginning reader! On the left side of the page is a black-and-white drawing of a Bible story, and on the right hand side of the page is a very simplified phonetic account of that story in large, plain type. When there is a difficult word, beyond the decoding skills of your young reader, a simple picture is drawn in place of the word so the story can still be read. There are 50 stories, each more difficult than the last, but all can be easily phonetically decoded. If your children know their Bible stories, it is fun to guess which story is being told. The back of the book contains a word list of new phonetic words introduced in each story. Hardcover, black-and-white drawings, from the Mennonites. 107 pages. . . . more. |
view | A Reason for Handwriting, Workbook "B", Grade 2, Manuscript: Penmanship Lessons Based on Scripture Verses
A person's handwriting, just like their personal appearance, says a lot about them! It takes practice to have nice penmanship, but many of the workbooks on the market seemed to offer silly sentences that seem no more than busy work. I love the idea of using scriptures to practice penmanship! What a meaningful way to sharpen penmanship skills! . . . more. |
view | God's Wonderful Works, Grade 2 12% OffA true study of science is nothing less than an investigation of God's handiwork. Colorful, bright photographs make it a joy just to browse these science textbooks, but you will find that the interesting text gives glory to the Creator for this earth and its marvels. Lots of hands-on activities and projects are interspersed throughout. Each chapter ends with a vocabulary study and helpful review questions. Optional teacher manuals include very brief teaching ideas and the answers to the review questions (plus the test key--I really don't recommend using the tests, as it is really "overkill" for young children, and the tests are expensive). Paperback, large size, color photographs throughout, approx. 100 - 150 pages. Written from a fundamental Christian perspective. . . . more. |
