Hello!
Don't you just love late summer days? They are so ideal for natural science studies: harvesting the garden, nature walks, studying plants and observing insects and animals. And at night, the stars shine so brilliantly that it is easy to find the Big Dipper and stir a child's curiosity about the awe inspiring sweep of our universe. I love reading aloud to the children on warm evenings with the windows and doors all open, listening to the crickets chirp.
But ready or not, it's time to begin school!
One good way to get ready is to formulate a plan. Ammon (14) and Emily (16) are high school aged this year, and it really matters what they study, as they want to go to college someday. If you have a teen, writing out a course outline of their 4 high school years will help you get organized and ensure that you cover everything that you are hoping to teach them. If they leave your homeschool prepared to meet the world, you will have done your job very well! See Emily's high school plan here.
For young ones, you can generate enthusiasm for school with a fun project of designing their schoolwork chart together. All you need is a piece of stiff paper or poster board, some stickers, masking tape or sticky tack and some markers. See Ammon's School Chart, from years gone by here.
I've just updated my Curriculum Guide for the Christian Homeschool. It is FREE online! (click here) It includes my philosophy of homeschooling, recommended resources for each grade, how to plan a schedule, encouragement, planning for college, and much, much more. I provide this at no charge because I am eager to help—I hope something will be of benefit for your homeschool!
We're still swimming, and if you are too, you might want to take a look at our SwimModest Swimsuit Clearance. Swimsuits in early summer's fabrics are drastically reduced in sizes Girls XS and Ladies XL size only! Shipments of our very popular SwimModest swimsuits, in new colors, are arriving regulary, but sell out quickly. Right now we have a good supply in our new fabric: Hawaii.

view | None Dare Call It Education 33% off!Even if you are homeschooling your children, the large majority of all American children will receive a public school education. That means our future communities and nation will be made up of doctors, teachers, businessmen and politicians who have been trained by the public school system. Considering the current unpopularity of Christian values, this is a frightening thing to ponder! This thought provoking book has been thoroughly researched and overflows with quotes and documented information from textbooks, from the media, from the schools themselves concerning an evil agenda for our children. None Dare Call it Education explains why our once great public school system now graduates students who cannot read, write or calculate. "It is must reading for all parents" says Phyllis Schafley of Eagle Forum. If you need a reason to homeschool or want to help your spouse or relatives understand, take a good look at this book. Paperback pocket book, 266 pages, adult reading.

Hi!
I am Diane Hopkins, mother of 7 children (ages 12 to 32) whom I have had the privilege of homeschooling over the past 18 years. I'm a mom, just like you, and have those fabulous days and those not-so-good days like we all do. My hope in writing is to share experiences, and hopefully we can encourage one another in this wonderful, intense adventure of childraising--that is really what homeschooling is, after all.
Hoping to help, if I can!
Love, Diane
