Subject: 10th Annual Homeschool Prom~February 27th
Buy tickets at the door for the 10th Annual Formal Homeschool Prom, just $7.00 each.
Please forward to your friends and homeschooling groups!
It's time for the big dance of the year: our annual prom has become a homeschooling tradition! We invite you to join your fellow homeschoolers for a Shakespeare Ball at the 10th Annual Formal Homeschool Prom--a decade of dancing!
This year we will be meeting at the corner of Main Street and Maple Street in Mapleton (Mapleton Memorial Hall, the building on the city park premises at 90 East Maple Street—see map). Wholesome music, appropriate lighting, decorations, modest dress, fun atmosphere, and refreshments all combine to make this formal dance exciting!
The dance will be on Saturday night, February 27th from 7:30 until 10:30 PM. The evening will begin with dance instruction and some circle dances, line dances and other no-partner dances so everyone can get comfortable dancing. The music will be conservative and fun: waltz, polka, swing, mixers, line dances, fox trot, twist, stroll, etc. (Strength of Youth standards will be upheld.) This year, we'll be teaching some Pride and Prejudice English dances too!
This is a "no date" dance—enjoy dancing with and meeting lots of new friends during this special evening.
Dress in modest formal wear, or Sunday best. A long skirt with a blouse is an economic alternative for a ball gown. Plan a modest outfit that is not tight and includes sleeves (that cover the shoulder and the armpit), modest neckline and back, below-the-knee hemlines and/or slits. Young men may wear suits, tuxedos, or shirts and ties, but no casual dress.
Tickets may be purchased for $7 at the door.
Enjoy this once-a-year, time to shine with other wonderful teens in a formal dance setting!
